Airline Simulator Scenery Upgrade 2.09
(C) 2001 by Virtuali and NOMISSOFT GmbH
This patch brings AS2 Scenery all versions to version 2.09.
Following Improvements have been made:
- New Athens International Airport LGAV added, the old Athens LGAT is
no longer a primary airport, and the previous IATA code ATH, now refers
to the new Athens Venizelos Airport, as in reality.
Some informations about the new airport:
- Four runways, 03R, 03L, 21L, 21R
- Four ILS:
- ILS/DME 03R - IATR 111.10
- ILS/DME 21L - IEVL 111.10 ( shared frequency! )
- ILS/DME 03L - IATL 110.50
- ILS/DME 21R - IEVR 110.50 ( shared frequency! )
- Athens LGAV comm. radios are as following:
- ATIS 136.25
- Clearance 136.27
- Ground 121.80
- Tower 136.27
- App/Dep 118.30
- There are some new navigational aids in Greece, as well.
- VOR/DME SAT Sat 109.60
- VOR/DME SPA Spa 117.50
- VOR/DME KRI Korinthos 113.00
- VOR/DME KRO Karistos 112.20
- Visual scenery around Athens has been improved.
- New runway at Paris Charles de Gaulle LFPG. The airport has now 8 runways, each one with an ILS, as follows:
- ILS/DME 08R - DSE 108.55
- ILS/DME 26L - DSU 108.35
- ILS 08L - GLE 108.70
- ILS 26R - GAU 109.10
- ILS/DME 09R - CGE 110.10
- ILS/DME 27L - CGW 110.70
- ILS/DME 09L - PNE 109.35 ( new runway )
- ILS/DME 27R - PNW 110.35 ( new runway )
- Other runways as LFPG were extended as well.
- More detail added at many places. Some countries are now way more detailed then they used to be. Most notable example, Germany is now entirely redone almost from scratch. You will notice added ground detail in areas like for example Rhine valley.
- Due to this, a new SCN ( EURGE.* ) is added.
- Newark ( KEWR ) airport added in detail, with all the standard AS2 features like taxilines, parking gates, docking systems. There are no static planes due to heavy memory restriction in the New York area ( too many airports within a few miles )
- A new North Atlantic routing set, with Newark in place of JFK. To enable
this alternate set, type:
CAREER NATL2
at the Dos prompt in you AS2 directory.
Following Bugfixes have been made:
- Fixes some ILS problems found in previous 2.08 version.
- Static planes sometimes not in the correct position are now corrected.
- Many taxiways are now more precise.
- Some mountains have peaks altitude corrected.
- Thunderstorms lightings are visible. You will see some random flashes around the airplane every while. In 256 color sceneries ( Europe and NATL, not USA ), the flashes will be visible on the scenery as well. To activate thunderstorms, you need to use F1 - Clouds and set a Thunderstorms layer active.
- VFR detail added at these countries: Bulgaria, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, European part of Turkey.
- To simulate the difference bewteen the protected range and the real receiving range ( usually higher ), ALL VOR and NDB have their ranges increased by 30%. This means you will be able to tune some hi-power stations at 160 nm or more.
- London Stansed ( EGSS ) airport is depicted with taxyways and buildings.
- Instanbul Ataturk ( LTBA ) airport is depicted with taxyways and buildings and visual detail around.
- Static planes at Rome Fiumicino ( LIRF ) are now in the correct place.
- CAS ( Turin Caselle ) NDB now has the correct frequency.
- Boston ( KBOS ) ILS Rwy33 ( ILIP ), is no longer misaligned.
- Azores and Canary Islands and islands in general should appear much
better now, due to a revised drawing strategy.
- Some land/water areas should now appear more correct, especially when
in reduced visibilty due to rain conditions.
- NDB's with frequencies higher than 999 have been removed from the SMS database, because their positions were wrong in the SMS *only*. They are still present in the scenery, but current AS2 ADF cannot tune to those frequencies. We left them in place, just in case of a future
update of the ADF radios.
- VOR's with 2 decimal points appears correctly in the NODES.BIN ATC
database. This fixes some problems like MTD or ZUE VORs not working.
Installation:
The self-extracting InstallShield file should be able to install the patch
without any user intervention. However, if you installed AS2 in a different directory then the default C:\AIRSIM2, you should type the correct pathname when requested.
